Uploading .Zip files

.Zip files are compressed files that collect a number of files you have selected on your computer, and combine them into one file for easier transportation and storage. .Zip files also attempt the reduce the file size (compress) the entire resulting file. This makes .Zip files useful for quickly moving a group of related files around the Internet. Once the file gets to it's final location, software there will "uncompress" the file to show the files that were 'zipped' together for the move.

You can move mutliple files as a .Zip file to your Artifact Library. ePortfolio™ will automatrically uncompress them and allow you register them as you do any file in your Artifact Library.

To do this:

1. Go to your Artifact Library

2. Choose the folder or location in your Artifact Library where you want the files to initially go. You can change your mind, and direct the files to other folders later.

3. Click the Broswe button used to to locate files on your hard drive for upload. Locate the '.Zip' file you wish to upload, and double click on it.

Once the file name appears in the upload textbox, click the Deposit button.

3. You will be prompted by the software that a .Zip file has been detected. You will be asked if you want to uncompress it. Choose the "Uncompress" button to extract the separate files.

.

4. Register whatever files you wish. If you want the right icons to appear beside the files when they are to be used as linked artifacts, or if the files are images you want to use in your image drop menus to insert into graphic themes, you will want to register those files.

You may also choose to direct the files to other folders at this time using the Folder drop menus. They can always be moved again by clicking the Move button which will appear beside each file once the upload process is complete.

5. Click the Register button. You are done. The files are now ready for use in your ePortfolios.
