Linking Artifacts to Other Standards

The institution will have a "primary" standard which provides the foundational structure of the portfolio. You may, however, be required to track other standards, and to show how artifacts used in their portfolio satisfy these standards as well. This is easy to do in ePortfolio™.

First you choose to add a "Standard Summary" category feature to his or her portfolio. This is done just by checking off the box beside this feature that appears as an option in their Table of Contents (index) as you are editing the first page of your ePortfolio.

Next, click the "Standard Summary" link beside the checkbox. A selection of all the standards available to your installation will be shown to you. Check off the other standards you wish to address in your ePortfolio. These standards are made from the list made available by Chalk & Wire at the request of the institution (These could be alternative teaching standards, subject-based competencies, etc.)

While editing the pages of the portfolio, you can choose at any time to link the artifacts to another previously selected secondary standard. This is done just by clicking the "Edit Secondary Standards" button at the bottom of any editable page.

Clicking the "Edit Secondary Standards" button takes you to the screen below to link the present page being edited to any of the secondary standards previously selected. You scroll to find the relevant standard(s), and checks them off, thereby linking the artifact(s) on the editable page to the selected secondary standard(s).

Note that when the standard is selected, it is presented alone in the bottom screen for easy reference.

This adds a record of the new, relevant secondary standards to the bottom of the editing page for this section of the ePortfolio.

You can your progress in addressing both primary and secondary standards at any time while editing your ePortfolio by clicking the "Standard Summary" feature link in the Table of Contents (first age of the ePortfolio).

A table is presented, providing a matrix of all standards used in the ePortfolio™. Standards/categories addressed in theprimary standard are shown as blue links. Clicking these, takes you to the actual page in the portfolio where that standard is addressed. Red, crossed-out categories indicate that, to date, no artifacts have been added to that category in the primary standard. All secondary standards are tracked in columns to the right, showing the standards or competencies that have been cross-linked. Again, clicking the blue links takes the user directly to the screen where that secondary standard was addressed.

In the published ePortfolio™, a page with a secondary standard link(s) presents all secondary standards at the bottom of the screen for easy reference by an assessor or reviewer.
