Rubrics Page- Data Presentation Labels

This feature allows you to enter the common labels you want to use in ALL your rubrics in ePortfolio. By entering a set of performance labels with their corresponding numerical scores you need not enter them again when you make your new rubrics. They will automatically show up in any new rubric you create. Once a rubric is created, you can edit it to use different labels, if needed.

Before you start to create rubrics, you must decide whether to use percentage scores or numeric levels in scoring assignments. Whichever you choose, it must be used consistently across all rubrics. If you choose numeric levels (e.g. 1,2,3,4,5), you must use the same choices across all rubrics. If you need to have rubrics with different choices, e.g. one with a 3-point scale and another with a 5-point scale, must use percentages, so that the software can combine the scores in a realistic way.

As well as determining the default labels used in a new rubric, the Data Presentation Labels are used in reporting the number of students achieving a given level of performance. By giving them consecutive numbers from 1 (low performance), you give the software the ability to track the incidence of the achievement of a given performance label in rubrics that use them to assess performance.

By clicking the 'Edit Labels' link you bring up the screen below that allows to you to modify or to add up to ten labels in consecutive order ( 1-10, and low-high performance description). You may also choose to make specific labels "Not Applicable". If this is done, all rubrics will have such a level by default. Use with care!
