Newsflashes appear in the ‘News Widget' on the 'Dashboard'. Newsflashes are used by the admin to make announcements to users. You may choose individual groups of users who will be able to view the newsflash when they login, such as assessors, students, administrators, sub-administrators, or a combination of these.
Creating a newsflash - Click the ‘Newsflash’ link on the ‘Admin’ drop-down menu. Click the ‘Add New Newsflash’ link, located on the right side above the list of newsflashes. Create your newsflash in the text editor. When your newsflash is complete, click the ‘Save’ button. Your newsflash will appear at the top of the list of newsflashes on the ‘Newsflash’ page. You can view, edit, delete, or release your newsflash.
Editing a newsflash - To edit a newsflash, choose the ‘Newsflash’ option on the ‘Admin’ drop-down menu. Locate the newsflash that you wish to edit in the list of newsflashes on the ‘Newsflash’ page. Click the [Withdraw] link, and find the withdrawn newsflash at the top of the newsflash list. Click the [Edit] link. Edit the newsflash in the text editor, and click the ‘Save’ button. Return to the Newsflash page and click the [Re-release] link.
Releasing a newsflash - To release a newsflash, click the [Release] link in the ‘Actions’ column. The released newsflash will appear at the bottom of the ‘Newsflash’ screen. From there you can view, or withdraw the newsflash. Newsflashes remain visible on the ‘News’ page to the selected departments and access levels until you withdraw them.
Viewing a newsflash - The admin who creates a newsflash can view it before release by clicking the [View] link on the ‘Newsflash’ screen. The newsflash is visible to the user on the ‘News’ page, the initial screen when first logging in.
Withdrawing a newsflash - You must first withdraw a newsflash to edit it. Click the 'Withdraw' link. Locate the withdrawn newsflash in the list and complete your edits. Remember to re-release the newsflash to make it available again
