My Portfolios

This is where you will see your portfolios listed, allowing you to copy, delete or download a whole portfolio at once. You can also see which Departments you are listed in.

Departments

The purpose of joining a department is so that you can use the correct Table of Contents (TOC) for your portfolio (see ‘Creating a New Portfolio’). Without the correct Table of Contents, which provides the navigation structure and all the assignment rubrics for your portfolio, you will be unable to submit an assignment for assessment.

There are two ways to join a department. Click the ‘Show All Departments’ link on your ‘My Portfolios’ page. Choose a department and click the ‘Join’ link.

Once you have joined a department, the correct Table of Contents will be available on the TOC drop down list.

Or, join a department by choosing a Table of Contents: (First, click the ‘Add New Portfolio’ link, if you have not already created a portfolio.) Click the ‘Edit Details’ link on the ‘My Portfolio’ page, and choose a Table of Contents from the ‘TOC’ drop down list.

Portfolios

  • View The 'View' icon takes you to the Edit Mode of your ePortfolio where you can make changes, share a page, or send it for assessment.
  • Copy This function allows you to copy an ePortfolio and rename the copy and is useful if you want to modify a portfolio that is based on another that you have. You may also choose another Theme for the new ePortfolio, and the new ePortfolio will contain the same linked artifacts. You are not able to alter the Table of Contents for the copied ePortfolio.
  • Delete You may only delete a portfolio that has not been assessed already- once it has been assessed, the Delete icon disappears. You can get this back if you want by checking the Deleted Portfolios in the Information section, further down the page.
  • Download Save a copy of your portfolio to your computer. Any links to other web sites will be maintained as links, so you will need to have internet access to see them. You'll get a zip file which has some folders and a load of files that make up your portfolio. When burning these to an autorunning CD, make sure that all the files (including autohtml.exe) are at the top level of the CD and not in a folder (but make sure that the Artfact and Images folders are kept at the top level of the CD, with all their files still in place inside )
  • Add New Portfolio The 'Add New Portfolio' link takes you to the 'Add Portfolio' screen where you can edit the name of the portfolio (the default is the user name), choose a Table of Contents, and choose a Theme.
  • Add Message The 'Add Message' link allows you to send messages to the folks on your 'Contact' list, manage your Contacts list, and 'Share' your ePortfolio on a secure web site.
  • Portfolio Name The name appears under the banner image at the top of your ePortfolio. You can choose a name when creating a new portfolio, or when editing it with the Edit Details button.
  • Table of Contents (TOC) The TOC you base your portfolio on will determine which sections and subsections are in your new portfolio by default, so choose carefully! If you are creating a portfolio for assessment purposes, you will usually be told which TOC to use. You can choose a TOC when creating a new portfolio, or when editing it with the Edit Details button.

Information

  • Portfolio Comments On the 'View Comments' page you may read and sort your received comments into folders.
  • Sharing Groups Create groups of other ePortfolio users to share sections of your portfolio with. You can see what pages you've shared with whom, and see if comments have been made.
  • Deleted Portfolios
  • Any portfolios you delete will not be permanently removed, but can be re-instated from here. If the delete button isn't available next to a portfolio you want to delete, then you have submitted a section of this portfolio for assessment and cannot delete it.
  • Used Storage space Shows you how much storage space has been used by the artifacts in your artifact library.
