Newsflash Page: Uploading a File

When adding a newsflash, you may want to give people more information about the subject of the newsflash. This can be done by adding a link to either a web address (URL), or your own file that you have added . To upload a file, check the box (shown below) and leave the URL box empty:

Note: Do not upload confidential files as a link in a newsflash. Whilst the headline and article can only be seen by people logged into Chalk & Wire services, any files uploaded as a newsflash link are not secure and can be seen by anyone that knows the URL.

3. If the file is not appropriate (too big, wrong file type, etc) you will get an error message in Step 3 which describes what's wrong (see below). You will then be given a chance to try a different file:uploading a file- error

Otherwise, you will get confirmation (see below) that tells you that the upload has been completed. You can finish the uploading process by clicking OK. Once the file has successfully been uploaded, it will be renamed automatically to ensure it meets filenaming requirements.

4. Your newsflash will be added to the list in the Flashes Page, and you will need to Release it before anyone can see it. When you've done this, the newsflash would appear on the Services page after login, and look like the one below:

Clicking More in this case would open up the document that you have uploaded.
