MY PORTFOLIOS PAGE - Add content

How to edit your portfolio to add new content, including: Adding text, images, artifacts and web links

When you've created a portfolio, you can then add information to it by using the Add Content link. You can add:

  • Text, such as quotes or reflection pieces.
  • Images to improve the appearance of your portfolio.
  • Artifacts such as Word documents, Acrobat pdfs, and so on.
  • Links to the internet, or to other pages within your portfolio.

Adding required information

Sometimes, when you go to a page in your portfolio, you may find pre-determined places to put information, such as the Content and Reflection paragraphs below, and their associated edit buttons:

These have been setup by your university for you to add information to and can't be deleted. To fill them out- just click the Edit button next to the paragraph.

Adding text

To add something, such as a new quote to your homepage, click Add Content, at the bottom of the page:

This will add information to the page you are currently viewing. You will see a screen like the one below:

This is the part of the Add Content screen that lets you add and format text. To add text, copy and paste information into the Text box, and add a Heading if you want. You can also customize the type and size of font, font style and color. If you have a suitable image in you Image Gallery already, you can also add a background to your text paragraph.

Click OK in the bottom left of the Add Content screen when you have made your changes. You will then be taken back to your portfolio, where the new content will have been added, together with a bar of controls to let you edit what you've added:

Adding Images and Links

You can also add images and links to your portfolio. Before you add images, though, you'll need to add them to your online Image Gallery.

When you've put things in your Image Gallery, you add them to you portfolio by going to the right page, and clicking Add Content at the bottom:

To add images, find the images section of the Edit Content screen, as show below:

Here, you can choose which image you want to display from the dropdown menu. Images that you add to your Image Gallery will appear in this dropdown, so to be able to add images to your portfolio, you first need to select some in the Image Gallery.

The alignment choice lets you put the image in different places in your portfolio, or to merely show a link instead of the full image.

To add other links, fill in the boxes at the bottom of the page:

These let you either put a link to another page in, or put in a URL to somewhere on the internet. If you link to an external URL, the contents of that page will be separate from your portfolio, and may not always be accessible- depending on whether the pages in the external site are maintained.

Adding Artifacts

Artifacts are added in the same way as other content- click Add Content, at the bottom of a portfolio page:

Find the artifact section of the Edit Content screen:

You can add artifacts in a number of ways, shown below:

  1. Choose a previously selected artifact from the dropdown menu.
  2. Click More to browse your entire Artifact Library.
  3. Browse your computer for a file, and click Upload to put it into your portfolio, and also add it to the top level of your artifact library. If you have lots of files, you may wish to re-organize your Artifact Library later.

As you continue to add artifacts to your portfolio, you will need to manage what's there. You can do this from the Artifact Library.
