The assessment escalation process allows you to automate submissions through a leveled series of scoring procedures. At each level you may choose individual assessors or submission to assessor pools for scoring, and choose to use the same or a different rubric. You may add as many assessment levels as you like. The submission can be branched in various ways according to the score assigned at each level.

To create an escalation scheme, click the 'Set Escalation Options' button on the 'Edit Assessment Instrument' screen. [1]
Enter a threshold score and indicate if the threshold score represents a pass or fail. [2]
Select the forward path for the next assessment. Choose the same assessor, a different assessor, or send the submission to an assessor pool. You must have the assessor pool set up first to have the option available on the drop down menu. [3]
Choose the rubric for this assessment level. [4]
Finally, select similar actions for a 'Fail' score. You may add an optional explanatory message with instructions for resubmitting a revision of the work. [5]
To add more escalation levels, click the 'Add Rule' link at the bottom left. Add as many rules (levels) as desired. [6]
