Assessment Regimes

There are multiple assessment regimes that can be applied to a rubric on the ‘Edit Assessment Instruments’ screen: [1]

Choose an assessment regime

(1) Candidate to choose assessor – during the submission process, the student chooses from a list of assessors who will score the work using the submitted rubric. Lists of assessors who are available to score a particular rubric using this assessment regime are established by department assignments. If an assessor is not showing up as available to assess, be sure that they have been added to the rubric's department and that their account has not expired!

(2) Manual assessment - any rubric, with the exception of formula rubrics, can be scored manually. The Manual Assessments function is accessed from the ‘Student Group Results’ or ‘Advisor Group Results’ screen. Click the ‘Enter Manual Assessments’ link. See "Manual Assessments"

(3) Submit to assessor pool – Assessor pools are most commonly used to allow a single submission to be allocated to more than one faculty member for assessment. The submission can be allocated to one assessor at random from a pre-established pool, allocated to more than one assessor, or can be sent to all assessors in the pool. You can also choose to display or not display the name of the assessor on the student’s ‘My Results’ screen. See "Assessor pools are most commonly used to allow a single submission to be allocated to more than one faculty member for assessment. (4) Candidate to specify external assessor - in some cases you may wish to have the student input the contact information for an individual, such as a field supervisor or cooperating teacher, who will complete an external assessment. The student must include the external contact email in their Contact List. See "About External Assessments"

(5) Self - Evaluation - If the rubric is set as a self-evaluation instrument, the student selects a faculty member who is responsible for receiving the submission, but will not complete the assessment. The student completes the assessment just as the assessor would. See "About Self-Evaluation Rubrics"
