Program Menus
File menu
- Save report- create an html copy that you can keep on your pc. This preserves the reports formatting and is useful for presentation and archiving purposes.
Data gathered from the Explore tab can also be saved in this way.
- Export report- create a non-formatted file that makes further analysis easier. You have a choice of export format that includes tab-delimited, comma separated values, or xml. Which of these you choose will depend on the program that you want to bring the data into, but the first two especially are widely accepted. You can also export from a variety of ways fom the Cache menu- see below for more on this.
- Copy to library- Having run a report from the Standard, Custom or Explore tabs, you can save it to a library from here. First, however, you have to make sure you've created a library on the library tab. You must also have a section within that library for your report to go to- select this section before you can use this command.
- Print- Print a report.
- Import demographic data- Bring student data into the Desktop Reporter for use as part of your analysis.
- Login as- let's you log in again and download fresh data.
- Exit- Leaves the CWReporter
Options menu
- Performance Level Reports
- Show highest level first- reverses the display order of the levels within criteria.
- Show zero scores in distributions.
People sometimes use zero scores for 'not attempted' or 'not submitted', and so need to see it in their reports.
For others, however, a zero score probably represents an error in assessment and should not be shown.
If you are concerned about all the percentages adding up to 100%, you should choose the option to include the zero level,
as these are counted in the percentages, even when they are not displayed
- Graphics size
- this option changes the size of the regression graph image when you are using the 'Compare two Rubrics' option under the 'Explore' tab.
- Scoring Multiple Assessments- this option is for when a student has been assessed multiple times on the same rubric.
Which option you use will depend on the type of assessments your institution carries out.
- Averaging- If a student has multiple scores on the same rubric, this option means
that they will be averaged together and the resulting mean score is the one reported. This is useful, for example,
if they are routinely assessed by more than one assessor.
-
Count latest only- This option is when the only score that is important is the last one the student was awarded.
An example of this is the 'Mastery' approach to assessment, where the student may submit several times to get feedback,
but only the final submission counts- this is what will be used in the report with this option selected. When assessments are
made on more than one rubric, it will be the average of the latest score on each rubric.
- Scoring Multiple Rubrics - this option is used for a custom report involving multiple rubrics.
Your report may be created in either of two ways.

- Aggregate- A single table provides averages across rubrics.
- Break Out- Each rubric is reported out as a separate table.
Cache menu
- Export by rubric
- Export by Criterion
- Export by Standard
- Export by Student Results
Although the cache is local to your PC, it is not
stored in memory, so exiting the program does not remove it. After leaving CWReporter, you
can come
back in later in the day, for example, and choose to work with existing data without downloading- the
cached data from your earlier session will still be there.
